Stellaris ascension perks not showing up9/16/2023 Makes the Aquatic trait and Ocean worlds incredibly strong.Fantastic choice if you meet the steep requirements. The only Ascenion Perk locked behind a flavor pack, this one is tailor-made for the new playstyle the Aquatics Species pack provided. Require sizable alloy investments at a stage of the game where you’ll also be wanting to build and maintain several huge fleets. With the penalties to pop growth in larger empires, Ring Worlds can be difficult to fill up to the point of usefulness in the late game. Not particularly useful if there are Even better if your empire accepts refugees, since ring worlds are 100% habitable to everyone Ring Worlds are one of the best habitable locations in the entire game, especially useful in the late game to dump excess pops.Dyson Sphere and Matter Decompressor can easily make energy and minerals a non-issue for the rest of the game, allowing your economy to run massive deficits. All of megastructures unlocked by this perk are fantastic, and there aren’t many games where this is a bad pick. What is this doing here? It can really be your very first Ascension Perk? Turns out, it can…although I wouldn’t recommend waiting for it to be your first. If you want to focus on edicts, get this perk, otherwise it can easily be skipped. Edicts can be really good, but their usage often comes down to personal preferences. This perk is very straight-forward, and I can’t really give it much of grading. Still won’t make your starbases strong enough to defend choke points on their own.Fleets are generally a better use of alloys than starbases, and alloys are seldom an abundant resource.Situational, there are almost always better options available. Can be really useful early game for protection and useful mid/late game for some extra firepower when guarding against crises.THE turtle ascension perk, with good choke points can compensate for an under-developed or crippled fleet.Good synergy with the Unyielding tradition, can provide enough of a boost to fend of small to medium fleets even in the late game with little to no fleet support. It doesn’t actually give anything “new” to your empire, like many of the others at this level, and the boosts don’t really put starbases at a level where they can really hold their own. This Perk gets a lot of flak, and the reasons are clear. One Vision provides similar bonuses, but without any costs or ethic requirements.Unity, Amenities and Spiritualist Attraction are already pretty easy for Spiritualist empires to get, with their access to Priests and certain events.Generally speaking, good Consecrated Worlds are also good for colonization, and can directly compete with your growth options.Have to be some degree of Spiritualist, restricting your robotic/synthetic options.Easy way to grow the Spiritualist Faction, if you’re wanting them to become more dominant in your Empire.Extra useful if you start near the Spiritualist Fallen Empire and have a sacred world in your borders consecrating a sacred world gets you Holy World bonuses on a planet you are unlikely to be able to colonize for long early game.Amenities boost can offset some of the penalties from the Repugnant trait, early development of Specialists, and lack of entertainment buildings, in addition to acting as a boost to happiness (and overall productivity). For only 50 influence, can get solid bonuses out of planets that would otherwise make bad colonization choices due to habitability. In exchange for some influence and making a world de facto uninhabitable, you get some bonuses based on the “holiness” of the world. Solid Ascension Perk only available to Spiritualists.

Beegie adair moments to remember torrent9/16/2023 They finally meet, and Werner gets Marie Laure to safety. Eventually, during the siege of Saint-Malo, Marie Laure uses her great-uncle’s old radio equipment to ask for help, which Werner, who has been forced into service for the Nazis, hears. As the Nazis take Paris, Marie Laure escapes with her father to Saint-Malo, and comes to live with her great-uncle. We come to find out that this French broadcaster is Marie Laure’s great-uncle Etienne, who lives in the small city of Saint-Malo. I’m going to skip over most of the book, though I highly recommend reading it. Each broadcast ends with Claude Debussy’s “Clair de Lune”. It is Werner’s favorite thing in the world. The broadcast it connects to is of a French man discussing science, history, music, and the world in general on a program geared toward children. Werner is an electrical engineering prodigy, and as a child he is able to connect to a radio broadcast emanating from France by fixing up a radio he finds one day. Set just before and during World War II, it follows two children, Marie Laure from France and Werner Pfennig from Germany. That said, I think I have some idea of how I will remember my experience during the pandemic, and it has to do with a book I read way back in July.Īll the Light We Cannot See is a 2014 novel by Anthony Doerr. We are all sentient flesh-and-blood ships of Theseus, and paradoxically, the way that we remember something is often colored by events that have nothing to do with each other, sometimes years apart. So, again, how will you remember your time during the COVID-19 pandemic?īecause personal memory is fluid, it’s nigh impossible to know how one’s memory will change as time passes. One of the greatest tragedies of death is that we lose all that person’s personal memory-their experiences and thoughts as only they could understand them. Certainly images of police brutality, images of collective action against said brutality, images of doctors and nurses, images of grief these will be remembered by everyone.īut our own personal memories can be quite distinct from the collective memory. I think that there are images that will be seared into our minds forever that occurred during this pandemic and resultant social isolation, which everyone else will remember. How will you remember your time during the COVID-19 pandemic? I suppose I should clarify a bit, what I mean to ask is how is your memory of your time during the COVID-19 pandemic will differ from the collective memory of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Terracotta roof tiles9/16/2023 Homeowners can stay home during the process, with the only real bother being skip bins in the driveway and some noise created by workers on the roof. The result is a robust, well-insulated and airtight roof. The workers carefully place the insulation blanket to cover all roof areas and create an airtight roof space.įinally, the Colorbond roof sheeting is installed, and screws are put in to secure it. Once the metal battens have been installed, the next step is cutting and fitting the foil-backed roof insulation blanket. Original timber tile battens remain but no longer serve any purpose on the roof. The battens serve as the fixing point for the new Colorbond roof. The roofing contractor will usually try to place large skip bins as close as possible to the roof’s edge to allow the workers to throw the old roof tiles off the roof and straight into the skip.įollowing the tile removal, the whole roof is framed with metal roof battens installed every 900mm. The roof replacement is a simple process and often takes around one week or a little more. At this point, a roof restoration is not a viable or possible option for the terracotta roof, and the only option remaining is a total roof replacement. The fretting process of terracotta can not be reversed and will deteriorate as time passes. While in Europe it is common to see terracotta roofs that are hundreds of years old, it’s likely the different clay types that were sourced from various geological sites that ultimately lead to varying lengths of serviceable life in tiles. Indeed, some roofs show significant fretting when not even 40 years old. Coastal conditions accelerate the fretting process in many terracotta roofs. Impressions Reclaimed Terracotta Roofing and. Once fretting has started in terracotta tiles, they become so brittle that they are no longer trafficable and will break and crack if walked upon. Experts estimate that replacement should be done every eight to 20 years to ensure maximum strength and stability. While fretting in its later stages can be easily spied from the rooftop by visible chips and chunks of missing tile, it will be most prevalent in the laps of the tiles, the areas where one tile covers another. The tiles tend to emit orange residue into the roof space and slowly leave terracotta dust and chips to collect in gutters. Fretting describes the process of a tile crumbling and breaking up, returning to the clay from which it was made. Of the thousands of Australian roofs clad with terracotta, many encounter the problem of fretting.

Rita cosby married9/15/2023 Again, she‘s not sure if it‘s somebody who witnessed it or who just happened to be driving by. But as far as any other official source of information, I have not heard this from anyone else.ĬOSBY: What do you make that, you know, the chief of police, Chief Dompig, who you know, is saying that he‘s putting a lot of credence in this? He believes it‘s sort of a credible tip, and we just were hearing from Julia that person expressing remorse. Id‘ heard of this, like I said, several weeks ago, and then again through a Dutch-I think there was an article that had been translated and had seen it on the Internet. So you know, this isn‘t anything new to me. And then I believe it was last week, maybe it was Friday, I believe there was an article posted on the Internet about a new witness had come forward. And you know, I really didn‘t know if there was any credence to it. And he felt that there‘s a strong possibility that Natalee might be buried in the sand dunes north of the lighthouse.ĬOSBY: And when did this come in? Was it a call? And did they just suddenly pick up the phone and call police?īETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY, NATALEE HOLLOWAY‘S MOTHER: Rita, there was talk of this several weeks ago. He is no longer living, or just maybe never lived on the island. RENFRO: Well, that‘s what we understand, as well, based on the interview that Gerold Dompig did, and that this particular person who came forward felt an extreme amount of remorse, that he knew some information and he wanted to bring that forward to the authorities. But what they‘re hoping for is some potential new searches to come forward in the near future.ĬOSBY: Now, how did this tip come in? Was it a phone call? And why are they taking this seriously? Someone of the sources that we talked to was saying that the person was expressing some remorse. And they have already sectioned off a tremendous amount of this area and closed it off for a suspicious area. And actually, quite a bit of mounds of sand, and I would say a matter of about eight football fields or so.

Arch sudo user9/15/2023 The Arch Linux Beginner's Guide describes this attitude very well: One of the greatest advantages of the Arch Linux distribution is its simplicity in approach and attitude. You could create this using a USB SD card reader on another Pi. A working Linux/Unix computer is required to create this image. IMG files you may be used to from other distros like Raspbian, it is not currently possible to flash this OS with a tool like Win32DiskImager. We learn a great deal by doing, and if you'd like to learn more about how linux operates, Arch Linux is an excellent choice for many reasons.ĭue to the fact that the ArchLinux ARM Project does not distribute the. The guide presupposes you have some familiarity with the linux system and are comfortable working from the command line, but it does not require you to be an expert. This guide is intended to help someone install the Arch Linux ARM distribution on their Raspberry Pi. such has keeping pkg backups to 2 versions. So far, its been about 6 months now Arch has not broken i've had a couple of occurrences where software doesn't work but that was for a couple of days until libs caught up. I have a small project for my daughter set up on local host and didn't find it that hard to set up and get working. I don't think i would be able to use Arch back in Ghana.Ĭhoice of software is huge if you take into account AUR and i've submitted one so far : i basically did it, to see if i could understand the way the system built packages. Downloads it seem if your prudent have to be done every day and it can range from half a a few mb's to half a gig. Now Arch could be a hell of a pain if your located where Internet is either flaky or expensive. very little updating to be done security updates are installed by getting packages released from time to time. Otherwise slackware is very stable and once you get to know it, fine if it meets your requirements. It just seemed lack of interest from the other site users apart from Alien. I will say I found Alien Bob most courteous and he did some corrections, also setting out at the beginning and made suggestions. It didn't look to me that other users could be bothered to check and correct it or comment on it. I submitted and had documentation accepted at ALien bob site for docs. Software range doesn't match other OS's and slackbuilds is actually maintained by volunteers - so in theory i'm still maintaining this one : in fact though i haven't done anything with it for ages and currently don't have a PC with slackware.ĭocumentation is basically dead and there was a stupid competition between 2 fractions or groups. Long term i'm not sure whats going to happen with Slackware quite frankly its very vulnerable with basically one benevolent dictator that couldn't Offord to fix his house roof at one point. Last time i used slackware i was using current and slpkg didn't work. I did have a lot of success using which now seems to be ok with slackware15. As of yet there is no decent system of package management and their deps. if however you just want stuff installed with no fuss, them Slackware can be tedious. Now thats great when you have to get the slackbuild for each dep, read about them etc because your leaning. For packages that have deps you have to build them manually to. Now if you take package management a lot of packages are still put together via one reason is that you can come unstuck if you go straight for a ready to install pkg because if there is some pre-work to do, the pkg will install but may not work.Ī typical example is clamav - it needs groups etc setting up. So wi fi doesn't work and a few other things on the basis that Mr P.V works along the basis of it can't be presumed you want this or this running ,so I won't autostart stuff you will have to manually enable it unless you made the choice at installation. Slackware is good if your main objective is to put yourself in a position where you will "have to" learn a thing or 2.
